If you’ve ever been on a flight, then you know that before the fun part starts (take-off, that is… Though for many folks the only fun part is the moments immediately following touchdown), you have to sit through a little safety explanation and demonstration.
A lot of them are pretty mundane, just a pre-recorded voice telling you safety rules while the flight attendants do the motions that go along with them. Other times, the flight attendants themselves read the safety precautions while acting them out.
Until recently, my favourite representation of a flight attendant was this Nicoderm commercial:
WestJet has been known to have some pretty entertaining safety demonstrations, which is a good thing when you consider the fact that many travellers tend to ignore them. This animated (maybe a little TOO animated?) demonstration is a perfect example of what they like to do:
But like I said, WestJet attendants have been known to boogie down every now and then. Just watch this flight attendant impressively bust a move in that rather confined space of the airplane cabin:
WestJet just seems to like joking around. I mean, remember on April Fool’s Day when they dropped this on us? I bet frequent fliers were salivating at the first half or so of this video:
Oh, and what about THIS ONE?
LOL at “State of the art feed trough.”
I’ll be honest, I’ve never flown WestJet. I’ve never even flown inside of Canada. The only two flights I’ve ever been on were a return trip to Orlando from Buffalo, on Southwest Airlines flights. They’re another airline known for taking a light hearted approach to pre-flight safety routines. For example, I read that one flight attendant threatened anyone who didn’t follow the safety rules with the idea of being duct taped to the outside of the plane.
Southwest also has the odd rapping flight attendant here and there too. Just watch:
Have you ever had a memorable experience with flight attendants like this? Tell me about it in the comments!
