You may have seen this image on your Facebook or Twitter social media feed recently. It’s been making the rounds and starting up a lot of conversations.
We tip for service at restaurants and bars. Should we be tipping musical entertainers.
I completely see where musicians are coming from on this – – unless you’re Taylor Swift, the pay is generally pretty low for gigs. And many times, musician’s are asked to play for the “hometown discount” – – a low rate (or free).
On the other hand, I’m not so sure that it’s patrons that should be subsidizing a wage for performers who , in fact, may be drawing paying customers into an establishment. It seems to me that the onus should be on the owner(s).
I’m all “for” a Tip Jar near the performers. Just not sure I want to see that option on my dining bill.
