These days, we all know who Vin Diesel in some capacity. He’s been in plenty of movies, but I would imagine that the first character of his most of us think of is Dominic Toretto, the muscle-bound, street racing protagonist of the Fast & Furious franchise.
Or perhaps you know him thanks to the Vin Diesel Facts that made their way around the internet a few years back. Example:
When Vin Diesel goes to donate blood, he declines the syringe, and instead requests a hand gun and a bucket.
Whoa… He’s hardcore.
He may be a household name now, but 20 years ago, he was just another struggling actor trying to hit the big time. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that back in 1994, he took a job at the New York City Toy Fair, hawking toys from the show Street Sharks. Remember that show?
Of course, given that merchandising is so important with kids shows, there was a whole line of toys to go along with Street Sharks, and to promote them, they brought in none other than a 26- or 27-year-old Vin Diesel for a hard-hitting sales pitch.
Jeez, from the looks of it, he’s almost as good at being a toy salesman as he is at singing today’s hits!
And I’m personally amazed that, even with his presentation, Hand Shark didn’t become the top-selling toy of all time!
