I’m the proud dad of two daughters who are strong, confident and wise.
And, while they grew up during the “Girl Power” era of the Spice Girls, it’s clear that there’s still a long way to go in the area of women pursuing various careers.
Why is it that only 11% of engineers are women? Or only 1 out-of-every 5 head chefs is a woman? Or that more than half of girls will give up something they love because they don’t like the way they look doing it? Why do girls in middle school earn higher grades than boys, but feel less confident?
As parents (as teachers, coaches, aunts, uncles and friends)…let’s see to it that girls and young women are given the opportunity to fulfill their potential. To know that anything is possible.
This video puts it all in perspective.
