Traffic. It’s an inconvenience to just about anyone who drives – and even for people who don’t, but depend on public transportation to get around. It’s just a reality of life. As long as there are cars on the road, there will inevitably be traffic jams. Look how ridiculous this one in Macedonia is!
Though something tells me we’ll never see a traffic jam in North America as crazy as some of the ones that happen in China:
Can you imagine being stuck in that traffic jam, moving a kilometre a day, and being trapped in some cases for 5 days?!
You better find a way to keep yourself entertained. Music is a pretty good way to do that – and it helps that most cars are equipped with stereos. Just a couple weeks ago, I was sitting in traffic waiting for the lights at Sherbrooke & Clonsilla to change. It wasn’t a traffic jam by any means, but I still kept myself entertained it by just going to town, drumming on my steering wheel… To the point where a friend pulled up beside me and I was totally oblivious, lost in song. It was a little embarrassing when he called over to me and I realized he’d been watching me for a while.
Mind you, I was only drumming on my steering wheel because I didn’t have a drumset in the car to play. That wasn’t the case for Adriaan Stroop, drummer of the Dutch band The Moods. Instead of staying inside his vehicle and fuming about the fact that traffic wasn’t moving at all, he decided to open it up, pull out his drums, and put on a show for fellow motorists stuck in the mess. Check it out:
As a fellow drummer, I gotta say… the dude knows how to rock a kit – especially such a simple one at that.
It kinda reminds me of these dudes:
Back in January, there was a big storm that made a big mess of the highways down in some of the more southern states. The Endless Summer Band was stuck on I-75 in Kentucky for roughly 7 hours, so they wrote and recorded this parody cover:
But easily my favourite traffic jam musician would be the Acid Jazz Flautist in Los Angeles who has been spotted on multiple occasions just absolutely rocking out in the driver’s seat with a recorder while traffic backed up. I can’t help but laugh hard every time I see this guy:
Whatever you do to alleviate the stress, just keep it up… Because the last thing we need is more road rage!
