I’m the Lucky One – Rainbow Association of Canadian Artists
Charity single in support of the March of Dimes and Easter Seals, featuring guest vocals by Bob Hallett (Great Big Sea) and Valdy (Juno Award winner).
“I’m the Lucky One” is a song about finding a soulmate — who happens to have a disability. Even though 14% of North Americans have disabilities, few recordings speak to this large segment or the challenges they face. To reinforce the song’s message, an #AllAbilitiesAreSexy campaign will be launched on July 1. Bipolar advocate Margaret Trudeau has lent her image to promote this social media campaign and the charity single.
Last year, RACA received Canada-wide publicity with the release of “Not My Time” — an anthem of hope in support of the Canadian Cancer Society — featuring guest vocals by Toronto’s late Mayor Rob Ford. “Not My Time” peaked at #1 on the iTunes Canada Easy Listening Chart. In 2013, Spectra released “If You’re Not Here at Christmas,” which was certified gold by Music Canada.
“I’m the Lucky One” will be released on July 1. Two versions of this charity single will appear on “Spectra’s Greatest Hits” — a charity album that is currently available for pre-orders on BandCamp.
Bob Hallett (Great Big Sea) sings the opening and closing portion of “I’m the Lucky One.” Valdy performs the last two lines of the first verse. The website featuring Margaret Trudeau’s image will be launched on July 1 (www.thelucky1.ca).
Incorporated in 2012, the Rainbow Association of Canadian Artists is a registered non-profit organization that celebrates diversity in music. www.raca.ca.
