If, like me, you have spent a Christmas in a hospital neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) over Christmas, you know how emotional it is. The world is hustling and bustling outside; but all is quiet within the walls of that unit, with the exception, perhaps, of the muted beeps of oxygen saturation monitors.
Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital is spreading some holiday cheer with the release a heartwarming video of two neonatal intensive care unit nurses caroling to a preemie.
NICU nurses Marineth Montenegro and Lisa Sampson comfort baby Anya to the holiday classic, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
Anya was born on December 11 and was just two days old when the video was recorded. The hospital tells Global News that she is doing well, but will remain at the neonatal unit for the duration of the holidays.
Good luck getting to the end of this without a lump in your throat or a tear rolling down your cheek.
