I’m with Mayim. As a dad who has helped raise two strong and independent daughters, I cringe when I hear someone refer to a adult woman as a “girl” – – especially when it comes from a man. Also, a man (in a “professional” setting) referred to my wife as a “news girl”. For the record, Lisa had graduated high school, had a college diploma, was married and had children at that moment.
Words matter. Language evolves. And it’s time to change the narrative.
Mayim’s crucial point is, “We never call men “boys”…because it’s demeaning and emasculating.” And…she has no problem correcting people when she hears it. Neither should we.
This is brilliant! Thank you, Mayim!!
