Scarlett Johansson, in addition to being a very talented actress, seems like just a really cool, down-to-earth person.
I don’t know about you, but I never really feel like I can relate to big-name celebrities. I mean, there’s just a lifestyle that comes along with being ultra-famous that seems so unattainable for just a regular Joe like me. I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels that way, but I’m guessing that for the most part, celebrities weren’t always celebrities. Sure, there are some that have been famous since they were children, and others who were born into Hollywood families, but I would imagine the majority of people who are now big stars were at some point just regular people like you and I.
Regular people who like to go out and party now and then. After seeing this video, I’m thinking Scarlett Johansson falls into the latter category.
Scarlett is replying to Geraldine, the grandmother of reddit user u/denverjoel, real name Denver Dodd. Last week, Dodd posted a 50-year-old photo of his grandma at age 22, back in 1967 on Reddit. The post quickly took off and went viral, because as you see, she’s a dead ringer for Johansson… Or I should say, Johansson is a dead ringer for her:
So, as you’ve probably pieced together by now, the word got around to Johansson, and when she did finally get a look at the photo, her mind was blown. So what did she do? She invited Geraldine out to party with her, so they can share a drunk face together (grandma was apparently “drunk as a skunk” in that photo). The invitation was for the premiere of Rough Night, the upcoming comedy Johansson stars in that will hit theatres in June.
In an interview with TIME, Geraldine said she made up her mind about attending pretty quickly:
I’m not going to be square. I’m going to drink with her [and] see if I can drink her under the table. She has got to remember to take it easy on me. I’m 40 years older than her,” Geraldine Dodd, 72, told TIME.
Turns out, partying with a celebrity was a decision the great grandmother made quickly.
“In a heartbeat, she said yes. Who says no to Scarlett?” her grandson, Denver Dodd said.
In case you’re wondering what Grandma Geraldine looks like now at 72, here’s a photo:
I find it kinda funny that in the thread about Scarlett Johansson looking like a young Grandma Geraldine, someone also posted that Johansson also happens to look like a young Christopher Walken:
… Though I’m guessing that as they both get older, that’s about where the comparisons will stop.
At any rate, I hope Grandma Geraldine has a wonderful time hanging with Scarlett Johansson. I can honestly say there’s never been a time in my life where I wished I could be a 72-year-old grandmother more than now.
