Nick Offerman is probably best known as an actor – specifically the actor who plays Ron Swanson, of Parks & Recreation fame.
Swanson, much like Offerman, is a man who enjoys the finer things in life. Most of them have something to do with breakfast foods.
Bacon seems to be an especially common theme with Ron Swanson. It seems he’s got some stashed just about everywhere.
Nick Offerman is a man of many talents, however. You may have known that he’s an avid carpenter as well. If you were unaware, you should check out the Offerman Woodshop website!
It seems like a lot of his interests do kind of revolve around food, however.
For example, check out Nick Offerman’s Pizza Farm!
Okay, so you should have been tipped off pretty early on that this was going to be some sort of satirical video. I mean the FunnyOrDie logo at the start pretty much gives it away. No, there’s no such thing as a pizza farm or taquito trees. The video is actually part of a campaign that the American Heart Association undertook a couple years ago to help protect the nutrition offered in school meals. I found it pretty amusing, and thought you might as well.
That quip at the end about fries basically being salad resonated with me quite a bit too.
I can’t help but wonder how many people saw that video and took it at face value, though. It IS somewhat reminiscent of this 60-year-old BBC clip from April Fool’s Day 1957 in which they documented a particularly heavy spaghetti crop that year:
Another classic was this piece documenting the marshmallow harvesting practices of farmers in North Carolina during a particularly bad year for production:
You know, given the choice between the three, I think the pizza farm is the one I’d most like to live and work on.
