If you’ve been living under a rock lately, you may have missed the cringe-worthy moment Jerry Seinfeld denied Kesha a hug. It was pretty much pure Seinfeld, as I’ve come to understand him:
The video starts off like you’d expect any conversation with Seinfeld to begin – sounds like he’s pulling that phrase straight out of his stand up show… And then, that awkward moment.
I honestly can’t get enough of that. “No thanks” might be my response to any unwanted situation moving forward. Hell, a mural of the exchange has already popped up in Melbourne, Australia:
A couple days ago, Seinfeld set the record straight about why he rejected her hug. He just straight up didn’t know who she was, and he’s not about hugging people he’s just met. In his own words:
According to Seinfeld, the two of them laughed it off later… But she still didn’t get that hug!
Though I’m not overly surprised at how that whole interaction went down. I still remember when PMZ caught him outside the Memorial Centre when he was here for his stand up show a couple years back:
Seems like he’s just not all that interested in interacting with people he doesn’t know… And I guess I can’t really blame the guy. As he said in that video above, the TV only works one way. Sure, you know who he is, but that doesn’t mean he has any clue who you are. Thanks to Kesha, though, we now know not to try giving Jerry Seinfeld a hug… Unless we want to be rejected HARD.
