Well, Canada Day celebrations have all but wrapped up in our part of the world, but that just means that our neighbours to the south are about to get rowdy as they celebrate their country’s independence tomorrow. Mind you, looking at the uniforms the Boston Red Sox wore while facing the Toronto Blue Jays on Canada Day and over the rest of the weekend, I’d say Americans have already been pretty busy celebrating all weekend.
Misunderstanding? I found it very disrespectful for Boston Red Sox to wear stars/stripes playing Blue Jays on Canada Day! It’s not July 4th! pic.twitter.com/frB99HjCZM

Anyway, while we celebrated our national birthday here in Peterborough with all kinds of community events, including an awesome performance from Kim Mitchell at Peterborough Musicfest and a fireworks show afterward, our southern friends are getting ready to celebrate the best way they know how: gluttony.
That’s last year’s edition (100th Anniversary, no less!) of the Nathan’s 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest, a staple of summertime on Coney Island. As you can see, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut destroyed the competition, beating Matt “Megatoad” Stonie by a solid 17 hot dogs, a year after Stonie had dethroned him. Looks like Chestnut was back with a vengeance.
Leading up to tomorrow’s big contest, Chestnut had a message for Stonie “and his skinny jeans:”
At the start of the video, the interviewer is mentioning to him how Stonie had recently eaten FOUR 4×4 burgers from the American fast food chain In-N-Out. Since we don’t have In-N-Out here in Canada, probably the best comparison I could make to something you CAN get in Canada would be the Wendy’s Grand Slam Burger, a secret-menu item that you can get if you say the right thing to your cashier:

… Though it doesn’t look like the In-N-Out burgers have bacon on them. Still, could you imagine eating more than one of those in a sitting? I sure can’t, and I LOVE eating unhealthily!
At any rate, check out Megatoad downing four of those in 3 minutes:
Some of you may be disgusted by that, but I’m pretty impressed, myself. He smashed one of those burgers in 37 seconds! That’s unreal.

Alright, that’s enough internet for today.
