A couple months ago, I wrote a blog post about a couple of fake strongmen by the name of Chop & Steele. At the time, they were being sued by Grey Television, the company that owned one of the TV shows they visited on their Give Thanks 4 Strengths tour last year. The company is accusing the duo (real names Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher) and the Found Footage Festival (which they run) of fraud, copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit a wrongful activity. There’s plenty more details in the link above, but here’s a taste of what they spent their time on TV doing:
Prueher had also visited morning TV shows in character as a fake chef years prior:
Well now, Pickett and Prueher are asking for help. They believe that they’ve done nothing wrong, but have obviously had to lawyer up. As I’m sure you know, lawyers and lawsuits in general tend to be pretty expensive, so they’ve created a GoFundMe to help them fight the good fight. Here’s a video explaining what they’re doing:
Who knew a little fun and some video for their Found Footage Fest would lead to a lawsuit like this? You can get more details on their GoFundMe page.
As far as I’m concerned, the whole thing is kinda ridiculous… But I like these guys, so I wish them the best.
