There were 3 sports stories that came out today in Peterborough that are worth mentioning and despite it being late July, 2 of the 3 have to do with the ice. Here they are
- Peterborough Petes Assistant Coach Jake Grimes has accepted the position of Associate Coach with the OHL’s Guelph Storm ahead of the 2017-18 season. The Dartmouth, Nova Scotia native will have expanded duties with the Storm after helping the Petes to the team’s best season in over a decade. Grimes rejoins Guelph Head Coach and General Manager George Burnett, who he coached under in Belleville. Jake will do great in Guelph and will be missed here in Peterborough. I’m not a Habs fan but I know a lot of them in and around Peterborough so this is very exciting and for a great cause.
- Officials from the City of Peterborough, the lacrosse community, Trent University and Fleming College have invited media to a major announcement next Monday regarding the 2019 U19 World Field Lacrosse Championships. This could only be good news for local lacrosse fans one would assume.
