Two Peterborough police officers were assaulted as they were making arrests on Tuesday.
In one incident at a campground in Lakefield, police were investigating a domestic assault involving a woman in her 40s and her partner. When police attempted to arrest the suspect, he allegedly threatened and then assaulted an officer.
While in custody at the police station, the man broke the plexiglass partition of a holding cell, police say.
He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 16. His name was withheld to protect the identity of the woman in the domestic incident.
In another incident Tuesday morning around 10:20 a.m., police say a man shoplifted a flat-screen TV from a Chemong Road Store.
An hour later, police located a suspect in the downtown carrying a TV box. Police attempted to make an arrest but the man resisted and assaulted an officer.
Daniel Paul Manley, 42, of Murray St. in Peterborough, was arrested and charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, theft under $5,000 and four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
He was held in custody and appeared in court on Aug. 15.
Assault at Restaurant
A woman was arrested after assaulting an employee at a Peterborough restaurant.
Police say on Aug. 4, the woman arrived at the Lansdowne Street W. restaurant to pick up her order. She got involved in an argument about her order and police say she spat in a staff member’s face. The woman left prior to police arriving.
Police identified a suspect and on Monday the woman turned herself into police.
Shannon Danee Tripp, 40, of Stewartcroft Drive, Peterborough, is charged with assault and breach of recognizance. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 7.
Break and Enter Arrest:
Peterborough police have made an arrest from an April 2016 break-in at a local business.
In mid-April 2016 a suspect broke into a Lansdowne Street W. auto business and stole a television.
Through the investigation, which included the use of the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto, a male suspect was identified.
On Tuesday (Aug. 15), officers located the suspect walking in the area of Dalhousie and Rubidge Streets.
Thomas Mark Perdue, 27, of Murray Street, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with break and enter, possession of a schedule I substance (cocaine) and fail to comply with a probation order.
He was in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Aug. 16).
Break and Enters:
The Peterborough Police Service’s Street Crime Unit is investigating following a break-in at three local businesses.
Sometime between 8 p.m. on Aug. 14, and 6:45 a.m. on Aug. 15, two businesses located in a Lansdowne Street West plaza and one business located in a Kawartha Heights Boulevard Plaza were broken into. All businesses were locked and secured at the time.
In two of the break-ins, cash and hair products were stolen while there is currently no reported theft from the third business.
It is believed that the same suspect(s) are responsible for all three incidents.
