If you’ve ever eaten KFC chicken before, I’m guessing you may have, at one point or another, wondered what it is about makes it so delicious. Is it the 11 secret herbs and spices in Colonel Sanders‘s recipe? That’s probably part of it, but I’m guessing it could also have something to do with the careful preparation by KFC’s specially-trained staff that makes the chicken so flavourful. If you’ve worked at KFC, maybe you know the answer to that secret. If, like me, you have not, you might find this virtual reality training game that KFC created for its potential new employees rather informative. I did.
I also found it kinda pretty creepy.
Anyone else catch the Colonel hinting that a robot COULD do the job, but that he demands to have a human working in his kitchen. I wonder if that’ll still be the case years from now when automation has taken over every other job we have. For the time being, however, that robot will do just fine showing trainees what they need to do to succeed in the KFC kitchen. I wonder if all their kitchens look like that one. Any time I’ve visit the KFC/Taco Bell at Monaghan and Lansdowne, it definitely DOESN’T look quite like that from what I can see from in front of the counter.
Also, can we take a second to acknowledge the fact that the person who completed that simulation must be a total boss at VR? They didn’t mess up once – and when I see people strapping on VR gear, I definitely expect them to mess up. Huge.
Someone on Reddit mentioned that this reminded them of the space simulator from the TV show Community that was sponsored by KFC… And it really is uncanny:
You know, a couple months ago when KFC temporarily changed their name in Canada to K’ehFC to try and appeal to Canadians, I said if they really want to attract us, they’d bring back our homeboy Norm MacDonald as Colenel Sanders:

See, I said that.
Well, it looks like they listened to me. Though it’s not a speaking role in this one, Norm MacDonald is back as the Colonel in this ad posted to YouTube back on August 1st:
Thanks for listening, KFC!
