“Fixer Upper” is one of HGTV Canada’s biggest shows. But, sadly, hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines made the announcement yesterday that Season 5 (airing now) will be the last.
It’s no secret that Joanna loves the look of shiplap siding on interior walls. And because the show is so popular, she may have played a big role in making the rustic look become so in vogue.
But how long will some of these current rustic look trends last?
A couple of weeks ago, I made a barnboard headboard for our cottage. It turned out really well, and I’ve received tons of favourable comments on it. (Sorry, fellow handy DIYers. I understand that many of you now have one of these on your “Honey-Do List” as a result of my creation appearing on social media. Again, my apologies. I owe you a beer someday).
But, I am wondering how long this trend will last. Will there come a day when sliding barn doors and shiplap siding end up in the same place as brass lighting fixtures and mailboxes??!! I’m sure they will. It’s just a matter time, right?
