The closure of Sears Canada may have been the result of people not regularly shopping there. But the liquidation process has brought out out crowds of curious bargain hunters.
Ryan Visima went into the Sears store in Toronto’s Fairview Mall this past Saturday, and recorded what he saw – – chaos and clutter.
Were the deals worth sifting through all that mess? Not really, when you look at what Elizabeth MacMillan found in Stratford. As Elizabeth wrote; “Be very careful and check your prices before buying. I looked at 4 different items I nearly bought a few weeks ago before the liquidation and all of them had their prices changed and were now higher to offset the “discount”. Almost every item I looked had the original price tag cut or taken off and then a sticker added.”
Whether or not this the result of a liquidation company taking over the inventory (and pricing it differently) is an unanswered question.
Undoubtedly, there WILL be deals at Sears Canada…eventually as time goes on. But it’s still sad to see it sinking the way it is.
