Last night on Saturday Night Live, Chance The Rapper took his first turn as host. He’s no stranger to performing in sketches on the show, having been slotted into a few sketches last year when he was the show’s musical guest, and fitting right in. His turn as host has garnered some rave reviews, but there was one sketch in particular that really caught my attention.
As a hardcore hockey fan, I really got a kick out of Chance playing the role of a basketball reporter thrust into the role of a hockey reporter, despite not being overly familiar with the sport itself and being rather chilly inside the arena. Have a look:
I also love the jokes about the players names being unpronounceable. With all the international players in the game today, that’s almost low-hanging fruit. But I especially love that they used Brady Skjei, an American defenceman, as a way to illustrate that. His last name is pronounced “Shay,” by the way.
As they say in hockey, “Let’s do that hockey!”
