Amy Schumer was only 12 when her dad (Gordon) was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
It’s a disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system). With MS, the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body.
Twenty years after that diagnosis, Amy’s dad was able to stand beside her. And, as Amy described in the caption, “My dad stood today with the help of a device. But he stood.”
A happy day, indeed. And, we also learn from this video that Amy was named after a song!
